TD1 - Multi-Microgrids: Definition of System Services offered at MV network, Interaction of MGCCs and DMS,
The essential issue in the beginning of this WP is the detailed definition of all the possible operating modes for the MG, under normal and emergency conditions (islanding and black-start situations), including different types of ancillary services that can be provided by Microgrids, energy import or export, etc. A diagram of these modes of operation and the corresponding transitions should be developed to display the complete picture of the operation of a multi-Microgrid. The requirements for central control of multi-Microgrids and an identification of the interactions among:
a) CAMC with Microgrids and DG units;
b) MGCC and CAMC with DMS.
A preliminary list of new DMS functions and other autonomous functionalities, related to the multi-Microgrid MV operation, will be identified on the basis of this analysis. Continuon, Siemens and INESC Porto will develop these tasks.
The energy and alternative economic flows of each operating mode shall also be characterized as a starter to TD5 and TD6 developments.
An analysis of the roles and responsibilities (services) of different parties in relation to Microgrid, Distribution and Transmission network operators will also be performed here. This includes:
- Identification of the information need of every party to achieve its duty;
- Specification of the data structures and interfaces required to exchange the information;
- Specification of the scheduling actions to be assigned to the CAMC (settings for OLTCs, capacitor banks, SVCs, DG units, Microgrids through the MGCC, loads under DSM or other curtailable loads);
- Specification of the support systems at the Microgrid level to accomplish their task;
- Prototyping some functionalities, namely the ones assigned to the CAMC.
A strong interaction with TE5 task is envisaged. Previous experience of the partners (INESC Porto, Siemens, ICCS/NTUA and LABEIN) in developing and specifying DMS and EMS systems will be used. These institutions will share responsibilities in this task.
